Naoyu Festival is a festival to drive away evil spirits and pay for peace
and harvest. During such a festival, a respected elder would scatter some
leaves (poison) into the river and a couple of men (fish) would jump into
the river and, pretending to be poisoned, roll in the river and then on
the beach head, symbolizing that evil spirits have been driven away.
