China's Ministry of Land and Resource and Gansu's Bureau of Geology and
Mineral Resources jointly convened a press conference in Lanzhou for
naming the "Lanzhou Dinosaur" on Oct. 11. It is a herbivorous dinosaur
with the biggest teeth in the world and a newly-found dinosaur species
discovered in Gansu. It is characterized by its tooth which is 7.5cm in
width and 14cm in length at the biggest. Such a dinosaur weighs 5,500
kilograms and dates back to 100 million years ago. Gansu discovered the
famous dinosaur footprint group in Liujia Gorge in August 1999 and
integrated gigantic dinosaur fossil in 2003. This August, restoration of
the whole dinosaur skeleton was completed.
